Our History so far

Since then the growth has been vertiginous: in 1972 it conquered the German market with the first variable fulcrum hinge, in 1986 it landed in the North American market with hinges for heavy doors.

In 1988 there was the first generational change that led the small artisan company to be the industrial reality today recognized as a world leader in hinges for appliance market.

Since then the market has developed in the five continents reaching today markets ranging from New Zealand to Brazil to all of North America and lately also in Asian markets with a production that exceeds 30 million pieces per year.

NUOVA STAR S.P.A. was established on 22/11/1967 with the purpose of designing, building and marketing hinges for household appliances and associated small metal components. The actual enterprise was created as an evolution of a previous company named STAR (acronym of Artisan Stamping), which had been founded in May 1946 with the main activities of design and construction of stamping and cutting dies for small metal components.

In 1957, at the request of a Customer, the first tool for producing a hinge was built and production was launched. Within a few years, the demand for hinges for household appliances had grown to such an extent that ten years later the name and main activity of the Company was modified in the current one.

At the same time, Nuova Star has developed an extensive catalog of components dedicated to the most varied applications whose advanced are today soft-close hinges solutions for built-in and free standing, washing machines, and refrigerators, and as well solutions for dishwashers; there are over 20 active patents.

Out of a total of 120 employees, the 12 people of staff involved in research and development of designing provides an additional service to its customers.

The automation push, the use of robotic islands, lean production techniques have allowed the New Star to be highly competitive and at the same time to ensure a high standard of quality using only materials of European origin .

In a difficult and confusing market, thanks to the commitment of the Board of Directors, of the Managers, of all workers, new Customers and Markets are being acquired, continuing in the growth trend, with the aim of keeping the meaning of Made in Italy.
